Critically engaging with materiality, dialogue, making and converging technologies to shape equitable futures through research and practice.
In the School of Communication & Design, we work across interconnected creative disciplines. Our teaching and research is grounded in material intelligence, craft and cultural richness.
As a communication and design community, we question established modes of making and creating, exploring how emerging methodologies, processes and mediums reshape experiences, perceptions of identities, publishing and product innovation to enable new forms of art and design.
Students learn within a creative environment where studio-based practice, research, labs, workshops, community and industry partnerships encourage dialogue, intercultural exchange, innovation and diverse perspectives. Our graduates become influential practitioners, innovators and leaders in their chosen field.
In an era shaped by AI and rapid technological change, we provide the critical and creative frameworks through which communication and design guide practices that are creative, inclusive and responsive to environmental, social and systemic concerns.
Our framing addresses meaning-making processes – the symbolic and knowledge-making dimensions through which dialogue and innovation become culturally legible, desirable and legitimate.
