Holly May Mahoney


  • Holly is a designer who relishes organisation, consistency and thoroughness. Graphic designer turned service design strategist, Holly is an empathic and creative individual with a diverse practice spanning across the private and public sectors. Holly joined the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design in October 2015, working within the Age and Ablility Research Lab. Holly's project is with Stannah, looking at the customer journey and improving the overall service they provide.

  • Biography

  • Before completing a Service Design MA course at the Royal College of Art, she worked as a graphic designer and design manager at some of the UK’s top creative agencies – including working on Legible London which has now become the gold standard for city wayfinding. Whilst at the RCA, she worked on complex social challenges as diverse as mental health, education for the 21st century and tackling the NHS’s bed-blocking problems. Alongside working with the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, she works with startups and service design agencies on healthcare-related projects. Holly is also building a social enterprise: Peckham Pieces, a community engagement project focussing on informal education, which grew out of her final project at the RCA with Niall Morahan.
