Dilusha is a printed textile design practitioner, researcher and educator with over a decade of professional experience in providing design education for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students.

Dilusha’s design research investigates the potential of fusing existing textile design practices with emerging material properties and technologies for the development of dynamic and responsive textile surfaces. With a particular emphasis on photochromic colourants, Dilusha explores new design approaches to integrate animated multi-colour and pattern-changing aesthetics onto textiles without compromising core textile characteristics.

Dilusha obtained his PhD in 2017, and his doctoral research project was fully funded by the Nottingham Trent University Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship Award. Dilusha is a recipient of the Harold Tillman Scholarship Award, which enabled him to obtain an MA in Digital Fashion from the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. He also holds a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design and Product Development Degree from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Dilusha is a Fellow of the HEA and holds a PGCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from Birmingham City University.
