From January to May 2017, the RCA designed and delivered a custom innovation programme for the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS).
“Innovation is about thinking outside the box and this RCA programme is designed specifically to challenge traditional methods. I’m sure all the business leaders participating will take away many new ideas which will help them to grow their businesses on a global scale.”Deputy Mayor of London for Business
In Kuwait the participants took part in a one-week workshop about Creative Leadership and Design Thinking, led by Rama Gheerawo, Director of the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, followed one month later by a business canvas modelling workshop led by Dr Nadia Danhash, Director of InnovationRCA.
The 40 delegates were selected from 10 companies representing sectors such as banking, real estate, petrochemicals, logistics and telecommunications. Throughout the challenge, a team of online business mentors from InnovationRCA helped the teams to develop their real-life innovation projects.
In May 2017 the delegates visited the RCA for five days. Each day Dr Nick de Leon led a series of talks and practical exercises about service design. They were also introduced to real-life innovation through visits to Barclays, Siemens, London & Partners, the Royal Bank of Scotland and Battersea Power Station.
“KFAS is pleased for the third year in a row to link private Kuwaiti companies with international institutions, to develop innovative solutions for their enterprises through funding and designing programmes such as the Innovation Challenge. This is part of KFAS’s strategy to develop human capabilities and build a knowledge-based economy, and the Innovation Challenge serves this purpose.”Director General of KFAS
