Jisun Park is a PhD researcher in Design Research within the RCA Robotics Laboratory, based at the School of Communication & Design. She works on the development of design approaches for making robots’ conversational capabilities more legible before interaction begins, drawing on a decade of experience as a UX and human-robot interaction designer and researcher across technology R&D organisations in Korea and France.
Her research examines how people infer what a robot can communicate before choosing to engage with it, reflecting her broader interests in conversational HRI, AI-mediated interaction and design methodologies for human-robot interaction.
She is also an Associated Member of Design Intelligence within the Creative Intelligence Exchange (CIX).

Biography
Jisun Park is a UX and human-robot interaction designer and researcher with a decade of experience at leading technology R&D companies across Korea and France. Her work focuses on translating emerging AI and robotics technologies into products, services and interactions that people can understand and use, from user research and interaction design to prototyping and real-world deployment.
She is currently undertaking a PhD in Design Research within the RCA Robotics Laboratory at the Royal College of Art. Her doctoral research examines how people understand and infer robots’ conversational capabilities before interaction begins, and how design can communicate those capabilities more clearly. Her broader research interests include conversational HRI, human-centred AI, AI-mediated interaction and design methods for human-robot interaction.
At Samsung Research, the research and development headquarters of Samsung Electronics, Jisun’s work focused on advanced research and design, exploring how emerging technologies could shape future products, services and interactions. Her work spanned UX scenario and service design for companion robots, voice interaction research and design across smart speakers, TVs and mobile devices, multi-device and connected-home experiences, future home experiences using projection mapping technologies, and UX/UI design for enterprise services. This work contributed to five patent applications. Features and interaction concepts developed through this work were incorporated into products and services.
At NAVER LABS Korea, NAVER’s future technology research institute, she worked on UX design for a robot fleet management system for autonomous service robots and conducted research on next-generation voice interaction for robots.
At NAVER LABS Europe, NAVER’s AI research lab in France, she worked as a UX Designer and HRI Research Scientist. Her work included voice interaction for robot delivery services, research on privacy and data transparency in shared human-robot environments, and real-world interaction challenges between people and robots. She also designed human-centred AI tools, including LLM-based interfaces for configuring robot behaviour and tools for evaluating conversational AI systems. This work contributed to research publications, including papers presented at ACM CHI and IEEE RO-MAN.
Jisun holds a BA in Visual Communication Design from Kyungpook National University and a Master of Design (MDes) with Distinction from Cardiff Metropolitan University.
