Helen Hamlyn Design Awards 2013

The Helen Hamlyn Design Awards 2013 were presented to graduating students of the Royal College of Art on Tuesday 25 June 2013 in an awards ceremony at the RCA.

This year there were eight Helen Hamlyn Design Awards:

  1. Age UK Award for Inclusive Design
    Winner: Sensory Feedback – Simon Kinneir (RCA Design Products)
  2. RCA Fixperts Award
    Winner: The Little Things – Florie Salnot (RCA Design Products graduate), Denise Stephens (partner); Peter Judson and Rachel Singer (film makers) 
  3. Stephen Pheasant Memorial Fund Design Award for Ergonomics
    Winner: Haemobility – James Wright, Ama Williams, Daniel Mclaughlin and Zhanling Feng (RCA Innovation Design Engineering)
  4. Technology Strategy Board Design Award for Independent Living
    Winner: Goldies Arcadia: Care home network – Arisa Ishibashi (RCA Architecture)
  5. GMW Architects Design Award for Work and City
    Winner: Corners of Interest/The Louver Twisting Comb – Kia Utzon-Frank (RCA Goldsmithing, Smilversmithing, Metalwork and Jewellery)
  6. MIE Medical Research Design Award for Healthcare and Patient Safety
    Winner: Gu Bank: gamification of human waste for India's bio-security – Shruti Grover (RCA Innovation Design Engineering)
  7. Helen Hamlyn Design Award for Alumni
    Winner: Inclusive Communication with Pigeon Films  – Marie Lenclos (RCA Communication Graduate 2001 and Helen Hamlyn Research Associate 2002)
  8. Helen Hamlyn Award for Creativity
    Winner: Goldies Arcadia - Care Home Network – Arisa Ishibashi (RCA Architecture)
    Highly Commended: Sensory Feedback - Simon Kinneir (RCA Design Products)
    Highly Commended: Management of the Bathroom Space – Marc Miralda-Besa (RCA Design Products)
