CCA Show 2018
27 April 2018 to 20 May 2018
The Royal College of Art Curating Contemporary Art MA 2018 graduating students present their final projects for the second year of the CCA Graduate Project Programme.  Developed in collaboration with leading London-based art organisations, the students worked in partnership with the Design Museum, Gasworks, LUX and Stanhope. The four projects explore themes of emotional labour, false belief, spatial rhythm, and networks of transmission and reception through different contexts, including a former BBC site in White City, a live evolving exhibition, a one-day festival and a radio broadcast.
4717
27 April – 6 May
4717 is a ten-day exhibition that invites four artists to create new commissions, alongside the showing of Ursula Mayer’s multilayered Gonda (2012), a work from the LUX collection. The changing exhibition space, and the activities it will host, will be broadcast via a video live-stream. The link to this live-stream has been acquired as the 4717th work by LUX, making it the first live moving image work in their collection.
Who cares? A radio tale
10 & 13 May
Who cares? A radio tale turns Gasworks into a live broadcast studio in collaboration with the renowned experimental radio station Resonance FM. A programme of newly commissioned and existing performances, sound works and discussions invites audiences to think about affective labour, the unrecognised emotional work that exists in all parts of life.Â
Every Second in Between
14–20 May
Every Second In Between is a temporary public art project commissioned for White City, a recently regenerated area with an extensive history of temporal changes. Korean artist Kyung Hwa Shon will challenge existing social and cultural rhythms and flows with colourful visual installations spread across multiple sites.Â
Alt-Age: Designing Belief
19 May
The Alt-Age: Designing Belief one-day festival is comprised of live performances and a symposium, which investigate the role of memes and online message boards in constructing and concealing truth. It invites leading thinkers and practitioners across contemporary art, design and technology, to question how conspiracies are building belief systems, communities and alternative bodies of authority.
This event is part of the RCA Show 2018, a unique opportunity to experience the very best of emerging contemporary art and design practice from over 800 art and design postgraduate students.
