The Tyre Collective

The Tyre Collective is a clean-tech start-up spearheading the capture and monitoring of tyre wear, accelerating the shift towards zero-emission mobility. In April 2022, The Tyre Collective was announced as one of four winners of the Terra Carta Design Lab.

At a glance

  • We are developing the first patent-pending device to capture tyre wear right at the wheel.
  • Captured tyre wear can be upcycled into various applications, creating a closed-loop system.
  • We need a method to upcycle this captured waste stream and aim to develop and test this circular reuse system.

“We are very honoured to win the Terra Carta Design Lab and are excited to get started! It’s not enough to capture pollution, there needs to be a method to manage this waste. Terra Carta allows us to explore the potential applications of captured tyre wear.”

More information

The Tyre Collective is a clean-tech start-up spearheading the capture and monitoring of tyre wear, accelerating the shift towards true zero-emission mobility.

Today, over a million tonnes of tyre particles are produced annually across Europe. It is the second-largest microplastic pollutant in our oceans and a stealthy source of air PM pollution.

In addition to our core business, we need a method to upcycle this waste stream. Through the Terra Carta Design Lab, we aim to develop, test this circular reuse system, and quantify the economics and impact of reuse of tyre wear at scale.
