Applications for the July 2020 intake of the Graduate Diploma Art & Design are now open.

You can apply for the Graduate Diploma via our online application portal.

There is no deadline for applications to Graduate Diploma Art & Design which has intakes in January and July. However, applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage applicants to apply as soon as they are ready to submit their application and portfolio; if you delay your application, your preferred intake may be full.

Application process

1. Check you are eligible

Please ensure that you fulfil the particular entrance requirements of the programme before applying – see entrance requirements for details.

2. Check you meet the English language requirements.

You will be expected to demonstrate that you have a reasonable knowledge of the English language.

Graduate Diploma candidates who do not speak English as their first language will be required to provide evidence that they have achieved an overall IELTS score of 5.5 with a minimum 5.5 across each area. Please note that tests must be no older than two years.

Students who need a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK should note that if they are offered a place at the RCA, it is likely they will be required to take an external test as a condition of their offer in order to meet the Home Office's English Language requirements. For more information, please see English Language Requirements.

What happens next

Reviewing your application

Your application will be reviewed by our academic staff including the Programme Lead and in some cases Senior Tutors and Admissions Tutors.

In a small number of instances, it may not be possible to make a decision based on an application alone. In these cases, you will be invited to attend an interview in-person or by Skype. Your invitation letter will contain full details of the interview  and what you need to prepare.

Accepting your offer

If you receive an offer of a place, you will be required to accept your offer and then you will need to pay a non-refundable deposit to secure your place. This deposit will secure your place and be offset against your tuition fees.
