A Global Creative Hub

The Royal College of Art lies within London’s hub of historic museums and universities giving it access to a huge range of activities and events.

A London Location

London offers the developing artist or designer a creative melting pot. Home to an international community of designers and artists, its renowned art and design schools make it a global centre for culture, from fashion to film. London also has an array of amazing social and cultural opportunities, with a wide variety of bars, cinemas, theatres and other entertainments.

‘London is diverse, vibrant and inspired... With so much happening in this city, there’s always something to do, see or experience. When I’m not busy working in the studio or library, I find myself visiting many museums and sampling new cuisines. What a place to be!’
– Alexander Matthews (MA Intelligent Mobility, 2017–present)

An International Community

Students come to the RCA in London from across the globe and find themselves part of a dynamic exchange of knowledge around shifts in technology and craft, art and design, communication, science and social relevance, which articulate, delineate and address issues that will affect us all.

The RCA is exceptionally diverse, with students from 76 countries coming together to form a student body that reflects the cultural mix of this world-leading city. Students at the College benefit from membership of a growing, specialist art and design community, among over 2,500 students and over 1,000 full- and part-time staff, most of whom are also practitioners in their field.

‘It’s a really hybrid community. Being surrounded by all these different cultures, you form different understandings and different appreciations, which in turn informs the work you produce. You get different perspectives and different views on how your work could be read and perceived from a certain culture. It has opened me up more and it’s been a really exciting part of my experience here.’
– Ahaad Alamoudi (MA Print, 2017)
