The RCA has had its roots in Battersea for over 25 years, and intends to contribute to the developing cultural quarter with a new building, designed by Herzog & de Meuron.
Battersea has housed the Painting Programme since 2010, Photography and Print since 2012, and is now home to Contemporary Art Practice, Ceramics & Glass, Jewellery & Metal and a growing research community that includes the MRes RCA: Fine Art & Humanities Pathway & MPhil/PhD Arts & Humanities students, the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design and the College's business incubator, InnovationRCA.
As well as world-leading facilities and technical support to underpin our academic teaching, the Battersea site boasts a rich cultural offering of scheduled talks by leading artists, curators, writers and critics, including the Visual Cultures Lecture Series, exhibitions and events.
In 2016, the RCA was given exceptional funding by the UK Government to create a new building in Battersea, to house art and design programmes including Fashion, Textiles and Sculpture, as well as new Research Centres in Intelligent Mobility, Robotics and Material Futures.
