Hannah White

PhD Work

PhD work

The application of textile structures as a means of ‘form finding’ is key to Hannah’s design philosophy. Her enquiry will contribute to the development of new structural surfaces and forms inspired by textile making processes.

Hannah is collabourating with UK manufacturers to explore how her textile knowledge and haptic skills using three-dimensional textiles techniques, can be combined with materials investigation, nanotechnology and industrial manufacturing. The aim is to develop new hybrid structures that take inspiration from ‘hard’ construction methods found within architecture and the ‘soft’ properties of textiles.
