Helen Hamlyn Design Awards 2012

The Helen Hamlyn Design Awards 2012 were presented to graduating students of the Royal College of Art in June at an awards ceremony in the Senior Common Room at the RCA.

This year there were six Helen Hamlyn Design Awards this year:

  1. Age UK Award for Inclusive Design
    Inclusive Design Interior Concept: Niels van Roij, RCA Vehicle Design (Joint Winner) 
    Dial Log, Ruby Steel, RCA Innovation Design Engineering (Joint Winner)
  2. Technology Strategy Board Design Award for Independent Living
    Requiem for a Dignified Life: Thomas Gibson, RCA Architecture (Winner)  
  3. Clearblue Design Award for Health & Patient Safety
    MuscleCast: David Stevens, RCA Innovation Design Engineering (Winner)
  4. GMW Architects Award for Work & City
    London's Eternal Summer: Michael Tuck, RCA Architecture (Joint Winner)
    Esource, Hal Watts, RCA Innovation Design Engineering (Joint Winner)
  5. Helen Hamlyn Design Award for Alumni
    Guy Robinson: RCA Industrial Design Engineering Graduate 2001, Helen Hamlyn Research Associate 2002 (Winner)
  6. Helen Hamlyn Design Award for Creativity  
    Smart Touch: Luc Fusaro, Ruby Steel, Kevin Bickham, Ho-Tzu Cheng, RCA Innovation Design Engineering (Joint Winners)
    Inclusive Design Interior Concept: Niels van Roij, RCA Vehicle Design (Joint Winner)
