'Sisyphus Reclined' – Graham Hudson at Burberry
15 October 2018 to 26 October 2018
Burberry, 121 Regent St, Mayfair, London W1B 4TB
Burberry's Regent Street store is exhibiting a new sculpture, Sisyphus Reclined, by MA Sculpture tutor, Graham Hudson. Exploring concepts as diverse as the human body, artificial intelligence, war and ghosts, the piece is comprised of a three-storey-high scaffold that was reclaimed from building projects all over the city. On the top level of the structure are cameras taking photographs of visitors, which are then processed and fed to a robot on the ground floor that chisels a block of polystyrene. Focusing on the shape of a headless and armless torso, Hudson has taken inspiration from the WWI heritage of Burberry to create a sculpture that looks to both the past and the present.
This event is a collaboration between Graham Hudson, Sculpture tutor in the School of Arts and Humanities, and Burberry.
