The Mobility Metamorphosis symposium will discuss the possibilities of a just transition in urban mobility, the cultural, technological, societal, ethical and aesthetic drivers of change which should inform the future designs for autonomous, shared, and sustainable mobility. It brings together researchers on architecture, city, mobility, technology and environment to address the need of cross-disciplinary collaboration to develop mobility solutions.

How can we transform the paradigms of mobility respecting nature, people and places?

The symposium explores 3 themes corresponding to the main paradigm shifts in mobility, the round table will focus on the questions in italic bellow.

  • Shared: Shared mobility provides an opportunity to rethink the right to the city, the concepts of public and private. At the same time, it requires discussion about ownership and accessibility of mobility means, privacy and personal experiences.
How can shared mobility promote a fair, equitable and inclusive city?
  • Autonomous: Autonomous mobility will radically change our role in the transportation systems and our relationship with technology and artificial intelligence. Moreover, this will impact the social and urban structures, and incite ethical, political and ecological debates.
How can autonomous mobility be beneficial for the cities, people and environment?
  • Sustainable: Sustainability requires changes in habits, technology, industry and in the economic model. During the pandemic, we witnessed the return of birds and bikes to the cities, and questioned what kind of environment we want to live in. Understanding nature and respecting its process is essential to design sustainably.
How can sustainability guide a more ecologically and socially just transition in mobility?
