Mijke works in various collaborations and collectives on transfeminism and cultural theory, and has an arts practice in media and performance.

Mijke is, together with Matt Lewis, contact for the School Wide Unit in the School of Communication. In 2022–23 the Unit is titled Making Worlds with Others

Mijke is a Tutor for our MA Animation and MA Visual Communication.

Prior to joining the RCA, Mijke has worked as theory lead for the MA non-linear Narrative at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague.

Mijke’s research focuses on Nonnormative Ethics, Transfeminism, and relational philosophies of movement.

This leads to an approach of philosophy as a dramaturgy of thought and action. Mijke teaches this in MA courses, workshops, and lectures in the UK and abroad.

Mijke is currently writing a book with Nat Raha, titled Trans Femme Futures and working on a monograph, titled Nonnormative Ethics

Mijke is a founder member of Red Forest, together with Diana McCarty, David Muñoz Alcántara, and Oleksiy Radinsky. Red Forest made in 2021 Sambatas Stagings in Kyiv, and curate in 2022 the German Pavilion at the 23rd Milano Triennale.
