Melanie Andrews is an experienced developer and manager of design programmes, projects and award schemes with a positive social purpose.

Melanie manages the Design Age Institute pathfinder projects to improve products and services for an ageing population.

Throughout her career Melanie has worked with leading designers, educators, researchers, and industry experts at the forefront of design, technology and innovation.

Melanie’s knowledge and commitment to design for social innovation progressed over several years at the RSA (Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce).

Her experience includes the development of the RSA Student Design Awards programme; a global design competition that challenges students and graduates to tackle pressing, social, environmental and economic issues. Melanie also served as Manager of the Royal Designers for Industry (RDI), an honour given to outstanding designers of all disciplines who have achieved ‘sustained design excellence and significant benefit to society’.

Prior to joining the RCA, Melanie was Studio Manager at Studio Levien one of the UK’s leading product design consultancies.

Melanie is a graduate of Camberwell College of Arts with a BA (Hons) in Art History and Conservation.
