Biography
-
Gemma is a London-based artist and filmmaker who works across video, installation, photography and sound. Her practice is informed by performance and documentary; exploring ideas of fragmentation in relation phenomenological experience and memory.
Gemma puts interdisciplinary and participatory processes at the centre of her work and she has a rich collaborative practice. Recent collaborations with international choreographers and performers including Cosmin Manolescu, Melanie Wilson and Laura Murphy have provided opportunities to put the human body at the centre of her work.
Gemma’s work has been shown internationally in exhibitions and festivals in Latvia, Romania, Ireland, Luxembourg and Lithuania and she has received awards to produce original public-facing artwork from Arts Council England as well as research and travel awards from the British Council. She completed her MA in Fine Art with distinction at the University for the Creative Arts in 2014.
