RCA Battersea

A London location in the developing cultural quarter of Battersea

The RCA has had its roots in Battersea for over 25 years, and intends to contribute to the developing cultural quarter with a new building, designed by Herzog & de Meuron and scheduled to open in 2021.

The Sculpture programme has been located in Battersea since 1992, joined by Painting in 2010, Photography and Print in 2012, and home now to Contemporary Art PracticeCeramics & GlassJewellery & Metal and a growing research community that includes Arts & Humanities research students, the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design and the College's business incubator, InnovationRCA.

As well as world-leading facilities and technical support to underpin our academic teaching, the Battersea site boasts a rich cultural offering of scheduled talks by leading artists, curators, writers and critics, including the Visual Cultures Lecture Series, exhibitions and events.

In 2016, the RCA was given exceptional funding by the UK Government to create a new building in Battersea, to house art and design programmes including Fashion, Textiles and Sculpture, as well as new Research Centres in Intelligent MobilityRobotics and Material Futures.
