Take your career and practice to the next level

Key details

  • 45 week programme

Next open day

The RCA will be launching a new MFA programme for the start of the 2023/24 academic year.

This programme will be open to a wide range of applicants, including graduates of the RCA or other MA programmes from the UK or around the globe, mid-career artists and designers seeking to further their education and practice, and career-changers who wish to bring their knowledge into the context of art and design. Alongside our MRes and MDes programmes, the MFA award will also appeal to those in, or working towards, an academic career in a range of contexts. To support a wide range of learners, the programme will be offered on both a full-time and part-time basis.

Further information on this programme will be available in late 2022, with final information being available in early 2023, when the MFA will open for applications. In the meantime, if you would like to be contacted once the MFA is open, please complete our enquire to study form.

The RCA has facilities at Kensington, Battersea and White City.

What you'll study

The teaching will be delivered by a combination of core and elective areas of study, which will include an extended independent research project, and may also include work-based learning such as placements or action research projects.

What you need to know before you apply

Candidates are selected entirely on merit and applications are welcomed from all over the world, as well as from mid-career artists and career changers. The selection criteria will consider creativity, imagination and innovation as demonstrated in your portfolio or equivalent professional experience, as well as your potential to benefit from the programme and to achieve high MFA standards overall.
