  • My work attempts to reformulate the relationship between absence and presence. Much of my recent work attempts fragments of images that open out a relationship of an absent ground. A painting should be on the ground, or the painting leans on the wall and so on. This suggests a spatial poetics of the image in which something is missing. Does this imply I am researching something that is not there or cannot be represented? What is the relationship between the image and space? Chinese paintings in a classical cultural emerge out of the emptiness and then return to the emptiness, whereas Western art is derived from a notion of presence.

My exploration is that it is might be noted in bodily senses so my explanation will open the sensitivity of the space and image in ways that allow the body thinking to pass through the vehicles of becoming. When the paintings became common objects, they functions within the very specific art history of institutional critique, precisely embedded within an absence of representation in social structures within a larger field.
