Major project:
Purify-able
The purify-able laminated panel helps improve air quality indoors, breaking down pollutants such as NOx(nitrogen oxide), CO(carbon monoxide), VOCs(volatile organic compounds) and so on. Due to the newly developed mixture of substances – photocatalyst, graphene dioxide, and polymer – the surface of the material can react to the visual light to change the monocular level of pollutants. The invented purify-able material laminated onto plywood can be applied to furniture doors ,so that furniture can become an energy-free purifier, by only requiring lights.Â

Taiho Shin is a co-founder of MAEZM, a design studio working with constant experiments blurring boundaries of what we perceive; and has previously worked for Hyundai Card Design Lab as a senior designer in the branding department.Â
His different working experiences helped lead him to believe that experiment-driven projects can contribute to shaping our future; and this should be based upon understanding the system we are living in. His belief in the capacities of the experiment-driven approach leads to many innovative outcomes – ranging from Hanji, a paper-based furniture project, to My Taxi, a service design project for public transportation. These were recognised with several prominent awards, such as iF, reddot, blueprint awards, and so on.
