Dr Paul Thompson, Vice-Chancellor of the Royal College of Art, said: “Her Majesty The Queen has shown an unwavering commitment to the cultivation of the arts throughout her lifetime of service and it is an honour for the College to be a member of the small circle of prestigious, world-renowned arts education institutions to bear the Royal title.

“The RCA’s history is intrinsically tied to the Royal Household, with The Duke of Edinburgh having given his service as the Royal Visitor for 50 years, a role taken on by HRH The Prince of Wales (now His Majesty The King) in recent years. This support cannot be underestimated; Royal Patronage has enabled the RCA’s achievements and contributions to society to be recognised on a global scale.”

The College will be respecting and honouring the life of Her Majesty through the two weeks of national mourning.
