The Royal College of Art was saddened to learn of the death of Lord Sainsbury at the weekend. Lord Sainsbury was a huge supporter of Art & Design and, via The Linbury Trust, he, his wife Anya and their children have been significant supporters of the College and champions for the work of our students and alumni. Most recently supporting the new RCA Battersea Research & Innovation campus, recognised through the naming of the Linbury Sculpture Studio.

Dr Paul Thompson, Vice-Chancellor, said: 'Lord Sainsbury played an extraordinary role in Britain's social, cultural and of course business life over many decades. So many of the nation's great institution's of culture and learning have benefitted from his leadership and his philanthropy, including the RCA. We all express a tremendous sense of gratitude to him and our condolences to Anya and his family.'

Our thoughts are with Lady Sainsbury and family at this time.
