The Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design and the RCA are delighted to launch the call for submissions for INCLUDE London 2026, an international conference held at the RCA Battersea campus between 9 and 11 September 2026.
INCLUDE London 2026 coincides with the 40th anniversary of the New Design for Old exhibition, curated by Lady Helen Hamlyn and staged at the Victoria & Albert Museum’s Boiler House in 1986.
It was here that the seeds for the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design at the Royal College of Art were sown, and the gauntlet for ‘Designing for our Future Selves’ was thrown down.
INCLUDE London 2026 will offer a space to pause, reflect and critically examine the ongoing evolution of inclusive design. We invite participation in the conference through presentations, workshops or posters.
More details and the call for submissions can be found on the INCLUDE London 2026 event page.
All accepted extended abstracts will be published online. INCLUDE will invite selected abstracts for submission to a special issue of the Design and Health Journal published by Taylor and Francis. Authors may also be invited to contribute to a special issue in Applied Ergonomics published by Elsevier.
Details on how to book tickets for INCLUDE will be announced shortly.
