Announcing RCA2026: School of Architecture Show

Running between 3-5 July, the School of Architecture Show highlights the groundbreaking work of graduating postgraduate students from the RCA’s School of Architecture. Held at the RCA Kensington campus, the showcase spans several programmes, including MA Architecture, MA City Design, MArch Design Practice, MA Environmental Architecture, and MA Interior Design.

Examples of student work include:

Vlada Bondarenko (MA Architecture), a Ukrainian trans woman and architectural designer, uses spatial design, storytelling, and immersive media to explore care, transition, and reproductive justice. Vlada’s project designs an alternative fertility clinic and community space in Kharkiv, utilising immersive media and sound to reimagine architecture as a wartime infrastructure for transgender healthcare and collective healing.

Yuran Tan (MA City Design) is a spatial designer and researcher whose work combines urban research, storytelling, and spatial intervention to explore how overlooked spaces in rapidly transforming Chinese cities can support community relationships and collective life. Yuran utilises mapping, models, and spatial interventions to reimagine how everyday infrastructures in Guangzhou’s urban villages can become places for social exchange and collective memory.

Through her practice, Studio Snoop, designer and researcher Amanda Talbot (MArch Design Practice) explores how buildings and spaces can be designed to help the human body regulate its breathing. ‘The Breath House’ is an interactive installation that investigates whether architecture, rather than wearables, can help regulate human breathing. Visitors test their own breath by humming into a microphone, which triggers a row of desk fans if they can sustain the note for 28 seconds.

Artists and spatial practitioners Alistair Maskell and Justine Sauri White (MA Environmental Architecture) utilise sculpture, photography, and drawing to critique globalisation and climate collapse, presenting installation-based future scenarios. On the Greek island of Syros, where traditional wooden boat (kaiki) construction is threatened by economic shifts, this project focuses on an empty factory born from the same historical forces as the shipyard - using the kaiki as a lens to explore new modes of dialogue and environmental investigative analysis.

Nuo Ni (MA Interior Design) is a spatial and interior designer who shapes atmosphere, narrative and emotional communication through spatial experience. Set in Amsterdam in 2039, ‘Second Bloom’ is a speculative film and spatial design project that explores the ecological harm of the global rose industry to imagine a future where romance and love are redefined through care, patience, imperfection and ecological responsibility.
