Queering Now 酷兒鬧 is an artist-led curatorial programme, amplifying the marginalised voices of Chinese/Asian diaspora artists in the West.
Queering Now 酷兒鬧 2021 features works by 16 Sino queer artists, showcasing a queer dreamality through a celebration of the visual, sound, desire, fantasy, sweat, queer gazing, questioning, tears and cultural reflection in the TechnoSphere. Audiences are invited to travel on the wing of queer longing, rebellion and (re)imagination.
Directed by artist-curator Whiskey Chow (MA Contemporary Art Practice, 2017 and Visiting Lecturer in Digital Direction and Sculpture), Queering Now 酷兒鬧 proposes radical care and solidarity, retreating from censorship and the white gaze. Queering Now 酷兒鬧 aims to build up a connection and playground for outstanding queer Sino/Asian diaspora artists, to hold their own agency via their creative works.
Featured artists include RCA alumni Mathis Zhang 張杭 (MA Contemporary Art Practice, 2019), Sin Wai Kin 單慧乾 (fka Victoria Sin, MA Print, 2017), Whiskey Chow (MA Contemporary Art Practice, 2017), and Zhu Dansiyu 朱丹絲語 (MA Visual Communication, 2020).
Led and curated by Whiskey Chow, with Digital Director Anne Duffau and Producer Ruth Holdsworth.
Online from 29 May to 12 June, book your tickets here.
