About the speakers

Christabel - NAFA Speaker

Christabel Teng Mei Yong

NAFA | UAS - Vice Dean, Faculty of Art & Design

Christabel Teng is an Educator and Strategic Designer in Visual Communication, Service Design, and Design Management. With nearly a decade of diverse creative experience, she transitioned into academia, assuming leadership roles at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Singapore. Her creative practice distils complex ideas into a visually compelling design and constantly seeks new ways to tell stories. Currently, her research focuses on investigating the nuanced relationship between place and human experience amidst ongoing urbanisation efforts in Singapore.

Peer Mohideen Sathikh

NTU - Director, Industry Engagement & Cross-collaboration, College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CoHASS)

Peer Mohideen Sathikh is the Director for Industry Engagement and Cross-college Collaboration at the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences and an Associate Professor at the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) of Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Peer Sathikh has a PhD from the Nanyang Technological University, Master of Design (MDesRCA) in Industrial Design from the Royal College of Art, London, and a Master of Design in Product Design from IITBombay, together with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from the College of Engineering, Chennai, India. Peer Sathikh joined NTU in 2008 after 22 years as a practicing Industrial designer. Today, Peer Sathikh is an expert on the design of operation critical control centres for rapid transit system. A serial entrepreneur, Peer Sathikh co-founded Teknovate Plastics Pvt Ltd in 2007, an injection moulding company located in Chennai, India. Past president of the Designers Association Singapore, Peer Sathikh’s work have earned many accolades including Chicago Athenaeum Award, Singapore Design Award, and others. Peer Sathikh was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) during Singapore National Awards in August 2022. He is a Member of the Design Society, UK and is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts (RSA).
