In partnership with The Photographers' Gallery
For the Time Being is a programme of live-photo performances using the social media app Snapchat. Existing only for a few moments, each intervention will question ideas of nostalgia, collective memory and intimacy as they are experienced through digital networks. The project expands the gallery experience on to an intimate, fleeting mobile platform to explore the shifting position of the photographic medium in relation to online image sharing culture. Audiences can engage with the new commissions anywhere in the world on their personal portable devices or visit The Photographers' Gallery to view the work alongside a programme of live events.
To open For the Time Being, on 9 May, 6.30–7.30pm Max Grau will conduct a lecture performance at The Photographers’ Gallery.
View the performances on Snapchat at @timebeinglive.
