An evening with the Royal College of Art: Creativity, Cities, and Culture

Studying at the Royal College of Art places you in London: a city internationally renowned for its creativity, culture and diversity - the perfect place to develop your creative career.

What do prospective students need to know about living and studying in the UK?

How do cultural ecosystems differ between London and Seoul?

You’re invited to meet senior RCA staff and alumni to discuss both cities, as well as how to make the most of postgraduate study, and future trends.

Alumni Speakers

Chaeyeon Kang is a visual artist based between Seoul and London. Her work examines the gap between the body as it is felt and the body as it is made visible, particularly through medical imagery. Drawing on personal experiences of bodily change, she uses painting, printmaking, image transfer and biomaterials to transform imagined internal anatomies into shifting, tactile surfaces. Through processes of layering, staining and material decay, her work approaches the body not as a fixed form, but as an unfamiliar landscape in a constant state of transformation.

Her recent solo exhibitions include 28days at Fotograf Zone, Prague, and Soft Temple at Komplex, Seoul (2026). Her work has also been shown in exhibitions including Liminal Field at the Art + Research Center, Institute of Contemporary Art Miami (2026) and Enchanted Matter as part of London Design Festival (2026) She holds an MA in Contemporary Art Practice from the Royal College of Art (2025) and a BFA in Fine Art from Korea National University of Arts (2024).

Hyunwoo Kim is a Korean fashion designer whose work explores the emotional landscape of memory and nostalgia. Born in South Korea, Kim developed his foundational design approach at Kyung Hee University, graduating with a BA in Clothing & Textile Design. He expanded his practice internationally in London, earning a Graduate Diploma in Fashion from Central Saint Martins before completing his MA in Fashion at the Royal College of Art in 2025. Through his brand HWKIM, Kim investigates nostalgia not as retro sentimentality or a straightforward recollection of the past, but as a layered emotional experience that lingers in the present.

Shinwook Kim is an artist working with photography, archives and photobooks to explore memory, place and borders. His practice brings overlooked histories and invisible narratives into view, examining how migration and displacement reshape relationships between people and places. A graduate of the Royal College of Art (MA Photography, 2014), Kim holds a doctorate in Fine Art from the University of East London. He has exhibited internationally and received the British Council’s Study UK Alumni Award for Culture and Creativity. He is Assistant Professor at Kyungil University and is represented by CE Contemporary, Milan.
