Celia Pym

Celia is an artist and has been mending clothing since 2007. Working with garments that belong to individuals as well as items in museum archives, she has broad experience with stories of damage.
As an Associate Lecturer, Celia works closely with MA Textiles students, and teaches across the programme, graduate exhibition and the RCA Grand Challenge.
Her work has recently been exhibited in Puzzle Pieces, Gallery Shimizu, Kyoto, Japan (2026) Perfection: a question of repair, Penland Gallery, NC, USA (2025) co-curated with Kathryn Gremley; and SOCKS: the art of care and repair, NOW gallery, London (solo) (2024). Celia runs workshops and publicly engaged events most recently Mega Mending, Moderna Museet, Malmø, Sweden (2026).
She has published two books ‘On Mending: Stories of Damage and Repair’ (2023) and ‘SOCKS: Imaginative Mending’ (2026) both with Quickthorn Press. She was awarded the Bayerischer Staatspreis, Bavarian State Government, Germany for her presentation at EXEMPLA Munich (2026).
