Learn how to meet the English language requirements for your RCA programme and prepare for your RCA-approved English test in just two weeks.

How to enrol for an Exam Preparation Course

If you have IELTS (or equivalent) 5.0 overall, with 5.0 in all skills and an offer to study at the Royal College of Art (RCA), but do not wish to join a Pre-Sessional Course, you can request to enrol in our two-week Exam Preparation Course by completing this form.

Our Exam Preparation Courses will support you in preparing for any RCA-approved English Language test. The course focuses on exam techniques, understanding exam expectations and practising all skills.

Working in a small, supportive group with an experienced tutor, you’ll also, receive writing feedback (including a 1:1 tutorial), and reflect on areas for improvement.

Important: completing your English language requirements

After completing one of our Exam Preparation Courses, you must independently book, take, and pass an approved English Language test and submit the results to the RCA Admissions Team in order to complete the requirements to take up your offer for the RCA.

The Exam Preparation Course does not provide direct entry to your RCA programme. Instead, it is designed to help you prepare more effectively for one of our approved English language examinations.

Course details

Dates:

Choose from start dates in March, May, June, and August 2026:

  • 9-20 March 2026
  • 11-22 May 2026
  • 29 June - 10 July 2026
  • 17-28 Aug 2026

Course fees:

The two week course fees are £1,600. This includes all practice and self study materials.

Teaching hours:

Online teaching takes place from Monday to Friday 9.00am to 12.30pm GMT, plus:

  • minimum 8 hours self study per week
  • a one-to-one tutorial per week
