The RCA Council has recently seen the addition of two new Council Members: Professor Dame Madeleine Atkins and Michael Creamer.

The Council is the governing body of the Royal College of Art, and is responsible for senior appointments within the College, as well as all matters concerning property and finance, administrative policy, overall strategy and any issues affecting the general welfare of the College. The Council is made up of 23 members, who meet four times a year – three termly meetings and one strategy meeting.
Professor Dame Madeleine Atkins is the President of Lucy Cavendish College at The University of Cambridge. Her background includes studying Law and History at Cambridge, teaching at Hinchingbrooke comprehensive school in Huntingdon, and completing a PhD and post-doctoral research contracts at The University of Nottingham. Following various senior positions at Newcastle University, including Pro Vice-Chancellor, she was Vice-Chancellor of Coventry University between 2004 and 2013. Madeleine then joined the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) as its Chief Executive in January 2014, retaining that post until March 2018.
Michael Creamer is Chairman of Cushman & Wakefield’s Global Occupier Services business in EMEA. He is a global corporate property expert, having worked in New York for 13 years, Asia Pacific for two, and the UK since 2000. Michael set up and has grown new business lines focused on corporate real estate. He serves as an Associate Professor at Oxford Brookes University, teaching their corporate real estate module, sits on the Real Estate Committee of King's College, London and is Chair of the Advisory Board for the MSc REEIA / BREI courses at UCL's Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment.
