What does sustainability mean in our world today and how do sustainability policies impact gold supply chains?

Join the Royal College of Art and the Scottish Goldsmiths Trust on the 22 and 23 June 2021 from 10:00 to 12:00 each morning for a series of talks and panel discussions about sustainability and how we source and use gold.

The first day of this event will be focussed on sustainability in Scotland and what we mean by sustainability, and the second day will examine sustainable gold supply chains. Talks will draw on a wide range of knowledge from gold industry experts, initiative leaders, and policy professionals.

This event is a result of the research project, Ethical Gold & Government Policy, led by Dr Peter Oakley at the Royal College of Art, in partnership with the Scottish Goldsmiths Trust and funded by the UKRI Strategic Priorities Fund. This research has investigated how ethical gold certification schemes and industry initiatives interact with regional and national government policies. The research and this engagement event seek to understand how sustainability, fair trade, social justice, climate change and the circular economy is manifested in government policy work and how this impacts gold supply chains.
