The Inside/Out Lecture Series is pleased to continue 2026 with a lecture welcoming Joseph Ellwood, founder of Six Dots Design, to discuss craft-led practice, material expression, and contemporary furniture design.

Based in London, Joseph is an interdisciplinary designer and maker whose work sits between architecture, craft, and expressive object-making. After training in architecture and completing his Master’s at the Royal College of Art, he founded Six Dots Design as a platform to explore self-expression, imperfection, and the human qualities of design through bespoke furniture and objects.

Through his studio, Joseph challenges conventional notions of function and finish, embracing raw materials, visible processes, and playful forms. His work has been exhibited internationally and recognised as part of a new generation of emerging design practices.

This talk will reflect on building an independent design studio, developing a distinct design voice, and navigating the relationship between craft, materiality, and contemporary spatial practice.

Join us for an evening of conversation and exchange, followed by an open dialogue with Joseph Ellwood.

Inside/Out is a student-led curation of in-person lectures and conversations, featuring esteemed leaders of the design industry. The series dissects and critically discusses the technologies that are reshaping the field today and in the future. Tickets are free and available in limited supply on a first come, first served basis.
