Masha Mombelli is a Russian artist, filmmaker, fashion stylist, art director, and lecturer on the MA Fashion Programme.

After completing her studies in the Serov College of Art in St. Petersburg, Russia, Masha studied painting in the underground school of Vladimir Sterligov (a student of Kazimir Malevich.)

Her extensive practice and participation in the fashion industry as a stylist and image maker led to a lecturing post in Fashion Photography at Falmouth University. She is also a guest lecturer at Chelsea College of Art and Nottingham Trent University.

STYLING BY CHANCE – research and a series of experimental workshops realized in various media using the principle of randomness and systems of chance.

ACCIDENT TRAINING - an innovative module and research project in partnership with Paris-based scenographer Ania MARTCHENKO, involving methods and approaches of incorporating accidents and spontaneous responses in design, creativity and experimentation.

Her practice and research are rooted in an experimental approach to making, incorporating spontaneity, systems of chance, and the principles of randomness. Her ongoing research project, Styling by Chance, involves assigning numerical values to garments, with styling decisions determined by the throw of a dice.

LOST & FOUND - a series of short experimental films exploring stories of human experiences though objects and garments. This body of work deals with themes of loss, misplacement, memory, disjointed narratives and celebration.
