Dr Keyhan Kouhkiloui Babarahmati is a robotics researcher whose career bridges advanced control theory, AI applications, and sustainable robotic systems.

With over a decade of experience in human-robot collaboration, adaptive control, and AI-driven robotics systems, Keyhan's work lies at the intersection of engineering innovation and sustainable manufacturing. He contributes to the Circular Robot 5.0 project, leveraging intelligent robotics for lifecycle extension and traceability of industrial automation. His interdisciplinary expertise includes real-time control systems, machine learning, and systems integration for collaborative robotic environments.

He earned his PhD in Informatics from the University of Edinburgh, focusing on impedance-based control frameworks for whole-body, compliant interaction in humanoid and mobile manipulators. Prior to his doctoral studies, he completed an MSc in Robotics at the University of Birmingham.

He has contributed to several internationally funded projects, including EU-H2020 CogIMon, EU-H2020 THING, EU-H2020 Harmony, UKRI FAIR-SPACE and the EPSRC ORCA Hub, developing robust robot-environment interaction strategies, adaptive impedance controllers, and dual-arm coordination systems. His academic output includes peer-reviewed publications in top robotics conferences and journals such as Springer, ICRA, and CoRL.

Beyond his technical achievements, Keyhan mentored MSc and PhD students, led collaborative workshops across institutions, and contributed to equity-driven research environments. His interdisciplinary and inclusive approach aligns with RCA’s vision of human-centered, explainable, and resilient automation for Industry 5.0.
