About ArcInTexETN

ArcInTexETN is a training network for new PhD students researching and exploring the expressions of sustainable forms of future living through textile thinking in the intersection of Architecture, Fashion Design and Interaction Design.

The ArcInTexETN aims to strengthen the foundations of design for more sustainable forms of living by connecting architecture, textiles and interaction design in a training network for early stage researchers. By deepening the connections between textile, architecture and interaction design the network will explore new expression of living in an age of technological innovations through the design of adaptive and responsive environments connecting the scales of the body, the interior and the building.

Building on new ideas of material thinking and design thinking with emphasis on sensitive design expressions for reflective living, the PhD students of the network will be ready to take on fundamental challenges both in academia and in the private sector through a training network that combines in depth specialisation, collaborative training and company internship.

RCA Master’s students graduating in 2015 with a background in Fashion, Textiles, Design Products, Design Interactions, and Architecture are encouraged to apply, as are Early Stage Researches in the first four years of their research career who do not yet hold a doctoral degree. You should formulate your research project in your application within the frame of the ArcInTexETN projects.

Students are required to move from one country to another when taking up an appointment. You must not have resided or undertaken work or studies, in the country you are applying to for more than 12 months in the three years immediately prior to the appointment.

Please note that recent RCA graduates and UK residents are NOT eligible to apply for ArcInTex studentships at the RCA.
