Zhanling Feng

MA work

With the evolution of digital technology, human beings’ margin and frequency of movement has increased considerably. This situation does not seem to make people become more physically active. Young children, even toddlers, are spending more and more time doing ‘finger activities’ dragged by the touch screens. Sub-health state starts from their initial stage of adolescence.

'Choreo', designed by Zhanling Feng, is a social project which focuses on adolescent girls' physical health.  It looks towards a disruptive dancing/learning experience to inspire sports interests. The concept has instant feedback and a long-lasting reward system to cultivate habits for encouraging moderate to vigorous intensity activities in daily life; and sustainably systemic processes to evoke, generation by generation, participation in dancing workouts. 'Choreo' is targeted at Chinese adolescent girls at present, exploring scientific yet joyful solutions.

‘And lost be the day to us in which a measure hath not been danced.’ - Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
