Yung Yuen Ma

MA work

My interest lies in the re-appropriation of geo-political engagements through individual and collective narratives, within trans-cultural homogenisation; questioning representation of these politico-cultural narratives in relation, and in contrast, to specific histories, locations and subjects. This encompasses representation within contemporary art practice, particularly the idea of artistic gestures as socio-political expressions and their translation into visual narratives within the mode of exhibition making. My RCA experience, in certain aspects, is finding ways towards not being lost in translation.
