Interflex

More than 70% of people working in offices have bad posture due to excessive time spent working in front of a computer. This contributes to issues with digestion, breathing, muscles and joint pain, affecting our everyday quality of life. Interflex aims to help people maintain good posture throughout the day in a discreet way. It detects if the user has been inactive or sitting incorrectly for certain period of time and shows people how to achieve the correct posture with vibration pulses that move around the bra. The vibration intensity can be adjusted according to personal needs. Interflex has stretchable sensors and an accelerometer integrated into the bra, which together can precisely measure upper body movement. After use, the processing unit can be taken off and the bra can go into the washing machine. A tight fitting t-shirt version is under development for the male market.

  • Yikun’s focus on humans within her design process was evident from the way she works. She quickly took the initiative to get out of the studio and talk to real people and, importantly, to listen to them, to deepen her understanding of their desires.

Yikun is a real wiz at whipping up low-fidelity prototypes, from paper sketches and simple clay form mock-ups to integrating hardware and functional electronics, she quickly discovers ergonomics and interaction behaviours through testing. She would refine these through thorough user testing, embedding insights from people within each next build.

Moreover, Yikun is a real team player, with an ability to pause her own thought train and accommodate the views of all group members.

Yikun is highly skilled in both design and engineering, so brings a truly rare combination of a broad vision and attention to detail at each phase of the design process.
