Happie: The Google Self-driving Car
How does the autonomous car reshape our future lives? How do our lives in the future change the way we transport? Needless to say, autonomous driving technology is an emerging trend in transportation. The change is not only happening in car manufacturing alone, but in transportation systems, urban planning, architecture and so many more areas.
In this project, I try to explore the opportunities for future autonomous cars. When you don't have to drive, the behaviour of passengers will be totally different: people may no longer concentrate on the front view and the view around them will attract them; since you don't drive, you can spend longer time in the car doing many things; some old interests like art car decoration will come back because you have more freedom to play with your car...
Happie is the kind of vehicle that allows you to get rid of driving behaviours and enjoy the car trip in different ways.

I am an innovative transportation designer from China. I am interested not only in car design or styling, but trains, buses, airplanes, future transportations and much more. I believe that new technology will make a huge difference to transportation in the near future, changing both our behaviour and that of society.Â
I think transportation design should always be talked about with relation to the dynamics of society. Transportation is not only functional, but also reflects the culture and habits of a certain area. If we bring all this information into transportation design, we can make a better transport product or system that is more interesting to appreciate.Â
My oriental background also gives me a specific understanding of form and styling, which helps me form a very different personal style.Â
