I am looking into the process in which the familiar becomes threatening, the moment in which the domestic (homely) becomes foreign and terrifying [a kind of paraphrase on the Uncanny (umheimlich) by Freud].

I am disturbed by those crisis situations in which the adult person experiences regression towards an early childhood experience, and develops child-like fears.

It is a creative process: an overdeveloped imagination and an expressive compulsion intensify the new images, leading to enhanced anxiety.

In my work I re-create this process that provokes my own anxieties. By exposing it I try to neutralise the terror it inflicts.
