THE MAXWELL SCREEN
My practice explores ceramic design for architecture and interiors.
Harnessing light and casting shadows; the Maxwell Screen - a standing interior structure, honours both traditional Islamic arabesque design, and modern western architectural motifs.
Encased in a frame of sustainable Sweet Chestnut, sourced directly from Ecclesall Woods in Sheffield, it is composed of 25 solid earthenware panels with a perforated graphic design.
My work is informed by texture, form and pattern in the natural world. The design in this screen originates from the unique linear network that makes up the leaf of a Lace plant.
Dedicated to and inspired by the character and energy that was Maxwell Ball, forever in my heart.
