In my practice, I predominantly use 16mm film as a medium through which to explore the role of the interstitial or the ‘in-between’ in the creation of open or subjective narrative forms. Often taking a particular gesture, strategy or motif from avant-garde cinema or literature as a starting point, my most recent works act as a type of rebus or picture puzzle. By filling the gaps between the images, text and sound presented on screen with scenes from their own imagination or cinematic memory, the viewer is invited to participate within the very structure of the film itself.
