DIWO : Arcadium
'A choreographic object is not a substitute for the body, rather an alternative site for the understanding of potential instigation and organisation of action to reside.'
– William Forsythe
Relying on a direct, human-scaled and responsive approach to existing architectural frameworks, Arcadium is a proposition of protocol welcoming movement practitioners among a series of premises temporarily available before demolition and refurbishment. The proposal is organised as a series of defined moments taking place over the course of a year. Considering the design intervention as a form of happening where the public gets involved at different stages of the process, the protocol acts as a meeting point between the time of the body and the time of the built environment. The proposal promotes low cost resources and participative building strategies as tools contributing to the autonomy of individuals and culture.
