MA work

VERSUS

The products that we use every day are changing. From washing machines to kettles, advanced electronics and intelligent software is increasingly central to their operation. Our objects are getting ‘smarter’.

How can we use this new-found intelligence to compete with one another through the objects that we use every day?

My project takes inspiration from the virtual realm of video games, the internet and animation, using technology to show how competitive feedback can be delivered by physical products. This approach places the individual within a community, challenging them to outperform other ‘rival’ users, ultimately making sustainable and more desirable behaviours more engaging, delightful and long-lasting.
