THOMAS VAN LINGE
LOVE is a cut out aluminium shape of two cartoon robot "hands" making a
"LOVE" sign. It is part of a series of hand gestures I drew while
researching notions around monetized and digitized modes of
communication. The digital and commercial landscape have created a
feedbackloop for language where words, meaning and symbolism are
continuously manipulated and commodified by means of technology and
social media. LOVE emphasises and amplifies this by using robot cartoon
hands to execute this highly commercialised handgesture.
