Economics, science, technology and culture... trends, fictions and beliefs. I’m interested in how these interact to shape our present and possible futures. I imagine scenarios, design products and undertake projects that aim to amplify ambiguities in technological and social change.
The Toaster Projec_t chronicles my attempt to build an electric toaster from scratch. Digging up the raw materials, smelting metals, hand moulding the plastic parts – the lengths required to create just a single toaster are absurd. By making a mass produced item on a singular scale, _The Toaster Project questions our understanding of the epic, amazing and terrifying process of making ‘things’.
