MA work

Are We Neutral?

This project reflects on how technology has altered our understanding of how things work: creating an illusion, that by simply pushing a button we have the power to switch on lights and turn on our television sets. It aims to make visitors reflect on society's excessive use of energy-consuming products and our chase for 100% efficiency.

A series of interactive objects make the distance between the 'switch' and the energy-consuming object tangible. These participatory activities translate body movements into energy to manifest the ridiculousness of being caught in a never ending loop between convenience and necessity, production and consumption.
